Ease on down the road with Li Sumpter of MythMedia Studios for an interactive screening of The Wiz (1978)—a classic Afrofuturist tale of a young Harlem woman’s quantum quest to the magical City of Oz. Attendees of all ages are invited to sing along with this beloved Motown musical production and make cool collage art inspired by the film. Lyrics and art supplies provided! Come early for MythMedia prize giveaways, a very special pop-up performance from Theatre in the X, and a pre-screening discussion that peeks behind the curtain into the wonderful World of Oz. Explore all that makes this story and its soundtrack a timeless treasure of black culture. There will also be a guided, family-friendly tour of the garden before the film.
