Girls Who Code is an international nonprofit working to close the gender gap in technology and leading the movement to inspire, educate, and equip students who identify as girls or non-binary with the computing skills they need to pursue 21st-century opportunities. Since launching in 2012, Girls Who Code has reached over 450,000 students through its programs and educational content. Girls Who Code has sparked culture change through its marketing campaigns and advocacy efforts, generating over 13 billion engagements globally. We have nearly 90,000 college- or post-college-aged alumni, which is almost 3x the number of women who graduated with computer science or related degrees in 2019. We offer free and flexible computer science programs for 3rd-12th grade students to learn how to make a positive impact on the world through computer science.

  • Girls Who Code Clubs (In-person or Virtual!):
    • We provide educators with free resources, 120+ hours of customizable plug and play curricula, inspiring women in tech spotlights, community-building activities, and comprehensive support and training to help 3-5th and 6-12th graders be brave and resilient as they use code to change the world. NO coding experience needed!
  • Girls Who Code at Home Activities (Virtual):
    • We release free downloadable computer science activities for students, educators, and parents bi-weekly—some online and some offline, of varying levels of difficulty.
  • Girls Who Code Summer Programs (Virtual):
    • Our Summer Immersion Program (SIP) is a live, virtual, 2-week introductory computer science course for current 9th-11th grade students. SIP participants learn web development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while getting an inside look into the tech industry through incredible company partners like EAPfizer, and ViacomCBS. In addition to a completely free program, we offer grants up to $500 and tech support for qualifying students.
    • Our Self-Paced Program is a flexible computer science course for current 9th-12th grade students who prefer not to adhere to a set schedule. Self-Paced Program participants can choose to earn beginner-level badges in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for web development or an intermediate-level badge in Python for cybersecurity. Students will also have the opportunity to build community through weekly live advisory sessions and Girls Who Code activities. 


Participants in all programs can access exclusive alumni benefits and career support for life, including our Hiring Summit, pre-internship programs, virtual mentoring, and GWC Talks webinars for career tips and strategies.

Girls Who Code offers free virtual summer programs for high school students, and offers free afterschool Clubs curriculum for 3-12th graders.
