Mt. Airy Moonlight Movies

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 07/28/2023
Mt. Airy CDC and our collaborators ROOT Ritual Dance Movement and Outlaw Arts are hosting a single Moonlight Movie for the 2023 season, and it’s a special one: Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised). This Oscar-winning film, directed by Questlove, brings to light the Harlem Cultural Festival of 1969 and the musicians that made it a landmark event. Part music documentary, part historical record, the film uses never-before-seen footage to illuminate this epic event of Black history, culture and fashion that took place just 100 miles from Woodstock. Temple Health – Chestnut Hill Hospital is our generous sponsor for this free event.
