We are pleased to announce that we are once again partnering with Solebury School to present StarCatchers Summer Theater Camp and Theater Tech Camp. This year StarCatchers presents Mary Poppins Jr.

Theater Camp

Proudly offered by Solebury School and Bucks Country Playhouse, StarCatchers Theater Camp campers will experience the theatrical process from start to finish as they collaborate to produce a musical theater performance. Their journey will include instruction in acting, singing and dancing, as well as how to put it all together to form strong characters for our performance. Whether your child is going on stage for the first time or is a seasoned veteran, they will thoroughly enjoy this camp and will cap off their experience with performances at Solebury School on the final days of camp.

Periodically, campers will also meet actors and creative team members from shows in production at the Playhouse, as well as artists visiting from Broadway and beyond. Campers will also attend one performance at the Playhouse as a field trip.

Theater Tech Camp

This three-week camp launched in the summer of 2018 and, like our Theater Camp, is sponsored by Solebury School and Bucks County Playhouse. It’s run by Peter Martino, Solebury School’s Theater Tech Director, who teaches campers the ins and outs of working backstage at a real theater production! Highlights of the program include:

  • Building scenery while learning tool safety and construction techniques to create an entire set from the ground up
  • Creating props from a variety of materials that help bring a magical world to life
  • Developing scenic painting techniques, turning raw materials into a beautiful land that transports the audience into the action
  • Learning the basics of lighting design to enhance the look of the sets and light the action of the show
  • Gaining experience working backstage while running multiple live shows in front of an audience

This program runs in conjunction with the StarCatchers Theater Camp and will provide the tech support for their four shows; two on Friday, July 12th and two on Saturday, July 13th. Attendance is mandatory for all four shows.
