Looking for an interesting place to visit that’s close to home? Pennypacker Mills is the answer! This historic site is open year-round for free guided tours of the home of Pennsylvania Governor Samuel Pennypacker and his family. Known for its collection of 18th and 19th century decorative arts, furnishings, personal and official documents, the story of this famous Pennsylvania family reflects the lives of those who lived here in the early 1900’s in Montgomery County.

A new exhibit, “Greetings from Schwenksville” is included on all tours and will run until January 30th, 2022. It features images from the collection of Pennypacker Mills, showing Schwenksville and the surrounding area at the turn-of-the-twentieth century. Some of these images were featured on postcards, stereographs and even plates. Samuel W. Pennypacker purchased the ancestral home at Pennypacker Mills in 1900 and lived there until his death in 1916. This was the heyday of the Perkiomen Railroad which boasted at one time four trips a day to bring both people and freight to the area. One of the major attractions was the Perkiomen Creek.
