The Battleship New Jersey will salute all veterans on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, with a ceremony on the ship’s forecastle (forward deck) beginning promptly at 11am. The Veterans Day ceremony will be emceed by Capt. Walt Urban USN (Ret.), the Battleship’s Military Liaison Officer, and in keeping with the Marine Corps’ 250th birthday celebration, we welcome our keynote speaker, MOH recipient Marine Corps Col. Harvey Curtiss “Barney” Barnum, Jr., USMC. In addition to the Bell Ringing Ceremony at 11am, we will hold a Memorial Wreath Presentation, which will feature Battleship volunteer Nan LaCorte performing TAPS on bugle as a wreath is casted upon the Delaware River.
