Rockland Center for the Arts (RoCA) continues its mission of enrichment through the arts.   Blown Before Your Eyes  is virtually LIVE and interactive! This May you’ll get the rare opportunity to step into the artist space of glassblower Moshe Bursuker.  Get a glimpse of where and how he makes his art, learn about his inspiration and process, and experience where the creation happens! Join Moshe Bursuker on Friday, May 21st @ 7:00pm (tickets: www.rocklandartcenter.org) as he opens up his studio for a live virtual Glassblowing Demonstration-Fundraiser for RoCA.  The Blown Before Your Eyes fundraiser is 3 tiered.:

• Tickets: $10 to just watch,
• Tickets: $45 watch and receive a one-of-a-kind leaf ornament 
• Tickets: $100 watch and receive a lavender shard blow (6” x 3”).   With this ticket of $100 you will automatically be entered into a lottery to win a $200 lace cane bowl (9” x 5”)

You will see these pieces being made live during the demonstration in Bursuker’s glass studio.  This is a fundraiser for Rockland Center for the Arts, your purchases support RoCA’s extensive programs.

Bursuker’s glass pieces are inspired from his love of both photography and sculpture.  He has developed a relationship between two artistic mediums that conflict in many ways.  While glass is three dimensional and formed by hand with heat, photography is two dimensional, seen by the eye and created by light.  By combining the two art forms he raises questions about form verses function and art versus craft.  The marriage of these two disciplines creates intriguing pieces that involve a complicated carving method onto glass, derived from his own digital photography images.  He photographs themes ranging from city architecture to natural landscapes.  He uses elegant traditional blown glass inspired forms and mixes beautiful vibrant colors that have a magnitude of hues and tones.  Nature inspires his art and lighting.  Images are sand carved onto the blown glass, making them tangible, a vision you can touch.  The end result speaks to Bursuker about life, process, memory, and experience.  His work ranges from functional production, to large blown forms, lighting and wall mounted artworks.

Moshe Bursuker received his BFA degree in sculpture and photography from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford.  It was there that he began working with glass.  He continued his endeavors in glass attending UrbanGlass, Pilchuk Glass School and the Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass, where he worked with world renowned glass artists.  His artwork has been presented at numerous art shows, including the S.O.F.A. Exposition in Chicago, Baltimore Whole Markets of the American Craft Council, Buyers’ Market of American Craft in Philadelphia, and the Architectural Digest Home design show among others.  Bursuker is a Westchester, NY artist.
