Celebration of Winter Solstice at Penn Museum
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 12/08/2018
Winter Solstice has been observed in cultures around the world since ancient times. It is the shortest day of the year, with the longest night. This celebration of light, rebirth, transformation, and renewal has influenced many holiday traditions. We invite you to participate in the shared wonder of light across cultures with us in an exciting and festive new holiday program.
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
From 1:00 to 5:00 pm, enjoy live performances, art making, storytelling, a winter market, tours, food, and workshops for all ages. When night falls, participate in the Museum’s celebration of light, designed to inspire awe and curiosity toward the millennia-long traditions of the winter solstice. In the evening, we welcome adults to come dressed in their shiniest attire for a seasonal happy hour including a drink-mixing workshop and a new play festival inspired by holiday traditions from around the world!
