At our Leaf & Learn program, kids ages 2-5 can get their first taste of volunteering in a supportive atmosphere. We begin with a short read aloud of a nature-themed book, then move on to easy, age-appropriate tasks. This includes things like planting seeds, picking up small pieces of trash with kid-sized grabbers, and "feeding" a worm farm with shredded paper. By being part of this volunteer group, kids will learn that they are an important member of a community that helps keep their neighborhood clean and green.
The group will meet at the FDR Park Learning Garden. Enter at the Broad Street entrance and head to picnic site 19, by the maintenance shed.
Grown-ups sign up on GivePulse, and must remain throughout the activity. Older siblings are welcome to come along for the fun. Families can choose to come to any or all of the events if a space is available!
