Explore an original letter written by George Washington to the Jewish Community of Newport, Rhode Island, and enjoy interactive gallery talks, story time, and Independence Day arts and crafts projects. All ages are welcome. The National Museum of American Jewish History located on historic Independence Mall is the only Museum in the world that brings to life the 360-year history of Jews in America. Through more than 1,200 artifacts, films, and interactive exhibitions, this family-friendly museum tells the story of how an immigrant population flourished under freedom and how Jewish immigrants became Jewish Americans. The Museum invites visitors of all backgrounds to share their own stories and reflect on how their histories and identities shape and are shaped by the American experience.
