Philly Pi Day Run benefiting Black Girls Love Math

WHAT: Black Girls Love Math (BGLM), a Philly-based STEM nonprofit working to increase the number of Black girls who pursue math-based careers, will host a Pi Day run, a family-friendly walk/run where 3.14 miles becomes a statement about opportunity. Participants will run, walk, and celebrate Pi Day while directly supporting programs that help Black girls build math identity, see themselves as problem-solvers, and connect their strengths to real STEM careers.
This year’s event will also feature prizes for the most creative Pi-themed costumes, inviting runners and walkers to show up in their best “3.14” style, from pie-inspired looks to math puns and geometric flair.
“Pi Day is the perfect reminder that math is everywhere, and Black girls belong in every equation,” said founder Atiyah Harmon. “This run is fun, but it’s also purpose driven. Every registration helps us expand access to the experiences and mentoring that make girls feel confident claiming math.”
