Collaborative Musical Theatre Writing Class (for 5th-10th graders)

Musical Theatre, a distinctly American art form, has the power to uplift, inspire, and ignite our curiosity. Behind every great musical are the writers who bring the story to life. In this class, young artists will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of musical theatre writing. They'll explore lyric writing, dialogue creation, and how music drives dramatic action.
In this 8-week introductory course, students will dive into the basics of musical theatre writing through hands-on, collaborative exercises. Topics will include story structure, lyric writing, and songwriting. The goal is to equip aspiring young writers with the tools and skills to pursue their passion for musicals and begin working toward writing one of their own—whether independently or in collaboration with others.
